Before I discovered my love for motherhood I started my career as a paramedic.
After years of travels and education, I knew I wanted an exciting job helping people in need.
I graduated in 2007 from Lambton College in Ontario. I have worked as a paramedic for over 14 years with 5 different services. My interest and passion for pregnancy and birth grew during a volunteer opportunity in Ghana assisting in the deliveries of dozens of babies. My interest in birth autonomy and informed decision making grew through the experience of giving birth to my own children. I’ve experienced a C-section, a VBAC, an unmedicated water birth and recently a homebirth!
I am the owner of Mamasaurus, a business that supports families, birth and beyond. I am a DONA certified birth doula and have attended over 160 births. In addition to offering doula support, I am an IBCLC, craniosacral therapist, Spinning Babies educator, Certified Childbirth Educator and Sleep consultant.
I believe in birth. I strongly feel giving birth is a transformative experience that lives in a woman’s soul forever. Supporting this transformation is an absolute honor.
I have personally struggled with birth trauma, tongue ties, poor latch, late milk production, poor milk supply, topping up, pumping, as well as successful breastfeeding! I have had fussy babies and babies who struggled to sleep! During my first mat leave I had so many questions and I was left unsupported. I really was unsure of who to turn to and who to trust! I was getting so many suggestions and advice but it was all so conflicting!
After my VBAC I was enlightened. A woman CAN have a redeeming birth experience. A woman CAN have professional breastfeeding support. There are tips and tricks that CAN help new mothers with fussy babies. This is when I knew my calling was to help mothers with their journeys. In 2021 I quit the fire department and I have never looked back.
My passion for motherhood has fueled my path forward. I have become certified in as many modalities that I could to be the best doula, IBCLC, sleep consultant, newborn expert and child birth educator that I can possibly be.
A few personal things about me : Im borderline obsessed with babies, im a feminist, I have chickens, im in constant awe of the vagina, im a mom of boys, im a midwife assistant and I spend all of my money on home decor…. its a problem.
If you want to know more about who I am and what I believe in head to my social media and lets chat! But first watch my home birth, it will get you in the feelers!
