Spinning Babies is about fetal positioning and how we can help them navigate our bodies.
This approach optimizes the physical relationship between the bodies of the mother and baby for the easing of childbirth. Spinning Babies is a new paradigm that takes clues from baby’s position and station for natural, physiological solutions. It is something that all expecting mothers and birth teams should be aware of. Whether you have a head down baby, breech baby, drug free birth, epidural or scheduled induction spinning babies can make a significant impact on the outcome of your birth using balance, gravity and moment.
I have personally had 2 births that could have greatly benefited from the spinning babies approach. Both of my sons were OP (sunny side up) prior to labour and during labour. One ending in a c section that could have potentially been avoided if I had known the techniques, and another that was unnecessarily uncomfortable due to my baby’s position!
After having a past history of OP babies with back labour I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t nervous during my 3rd pregnancy. I did all of my Spinning Babies exercises, lots of body work as well as mind work. Thanks to Spinning babies my 3rd birth was the most enjoyable (yes enjoyable) experiences of my life. No back labour, no stalling labour, yes a beautiful naturally progressing labour that I found so manageable I did it drug free!
