We all know that newborns cry. They eat, sleep, poop and cry. But as new parents were not always sure how much crying is ok? What’s normal? Is my baby colic? I personally have asked myself these questions with all of my newborns.

Newborns need to be skin to skin often and feed on demand but how much crying is normal? When my boys were newborns they went through a period of extensive crying. I would feed them, rock them, snuggle them and sometimes they still would cry for hours. One day I realized that my baby was over stimulated and tired! He needed my help discovering his calming reflex.

DR. HARVY KARP. If you haven’t heard of Dr. Harvy Karps 5 Ss brace yourself. It’s like magic. I wish I had known this information before I had my boys. Now that I do I want to teach all parents out there! Here is a little background on what this magic is. Dr. Karp believes that all babies are born 3 months early. Newborn horses can run within an hour of birth but not our mushy little babies. A virtual 4th trimester of womb sensations (soft touch, jiggly motion, snug holding, etc.) may just be what they need. The rhythms experienced inside the womb trigger a reflex that keeps babies relaxed. This calming reflex is a virtual off-switch for crying and on-switch for sleep.

Sounds simple right? It actually takes precision to work. This is why I’m offering to teach you exactly what to do and how to do it. You can purchase these books online and read through them then put to practice what you have learned. But for those that don’t have time (and let’s be real here who does) or you would just rather learn and see it done in person I’m the one to help you. I’m a “happiest baby on the block” educator and I would be honored to pass this torch of baby whispering on to you.

In addition to learning the magic of the 5 ss I can come to your home to teach you the basics such as feeding, bathing, burping, changing, really the list goes on! This 2 hour visit will be anything and everything you want it to be. Contact me prior to your baby coming or once your baby has arrived! Hands on learning is recommended.
