I have always been fascinated with pregnancy, labour and delivery. My medical background has granted me opportunities to study these subjects in detail and also put it to practice. I have personally delivered and assisted many births in Canada and largely Africa.
Since then I have been blessed with 4 healthy pregnancies and 4 polar opposite birth stories. Between the births of my children is when I first became interested in who Doulas are and what they do.
My first labour was brought on too early. My body and baby were just not ready. I struggled to progress and a C section was imminent. This was new and overwhelming for my husband and he wasn’t the advocate he thought he would be. While trying to cope with labour, I wasn’t in my right mind to advocate for myself and ask the questions I wanted to. I was also not prepared for the pain of labour and was lacking the tools I needed to cope. Long story short, 24 hours later, 7 cm dilated I was rushed for an emergency section where I was put out completely and my husband was left alone waiting.
After I became pregnant with my second I was adamant that I would have a VBAC (vaginal birth after C section). I felt pressured to schedule a section. It was then that I began looking for support and discovered what a Doula is! In the end we were all evacuated due to wile fire. My son was born on May 20 2016 in Edmonton by a Midwife-Dr duo. It was a beautiful, supportive successful VBAC!
June 2019 I had the most beautiful drug free water birth! It was truly the most amazing and empowering experience of my life.
Sept 2021 I had the home birth of my dreams! My oldest son actually caught his brother and my second son cut his cord. It was truly a family affair and will always be the single best day of my life.
Given my personal experience with C section a VBAC as well as a drug free water births I feel that I can relate with many different birth paths.
Since my doula training I have discovered the beauty and power behind women helping other women through the most amazing time in their life. Some people think having a Doula means you can’t have pain medication or that you might feel uncomfortable with someone other then your partner helping you. This is not the case! My job is to be there for you AND your spouse supporting all of your decisions throughout your birthing experience. I want to make this memory one of the best memories you will ever have. I will work with you prior to your birth to determine what your hopes and goals are and build a trusting relationship were you feel valued, heard and comfortable.

Doula Support Package
Meet me- this is a very special time in your life. It’s important to make sure we are the right fit for each other before you hire me.
I will be on call for you 24/7. If you just need to chat or if you need some evidenced based information, I will be there for you!
Included in this service is a couples meeting. I will come to your home and go over all birthing options and assist you in creating your birth plan. I will also teach you and your partner how to use some tools, including a rebozo (lent out to you). We will also work together closely during the prenatal period preparing your mind, body and soul for the birth you are hoping for. My job is to support you and your birth wishes, whatever they may be!
I will attend your birth. During your birth I will be there to provide emotional, physical and educational support, advocate for your wishes, ensure you have all of the accurate information you need to make informed decisions that are best for you and encourage empowerment within you. I will be there when you need me (prior to hospital and at the hospital). I will also take photos and video for you. I edit these within 2 hours after birth so that you have beautiful photos to send off to family. I provide a postnatal visit shortly after the birth when its convenient for you and your baby. During your post partum time I will remain on call for you to answer any questions you may have in the first few weeks.
